Meet the 2019 Staff

Teresa Ferreira, Camp Director

“Welcome to Camp Pugwash! I am excited to serve as your Camp Director this Summer! I am joined in the Maritime Conference by my husband, Brian, and my daughter, Sophia (both pictured) — we are #3Ministers4HIM. I was born in New Brunswick, moved to Ontario when I was 10 and spent 17 years in the US being educated and serving in our Adventist Educational Institutions, including two years abroad teaching in Taiwan and China. God called me back to Canada in 2013, and I’ve been serving Him in some form of leadership within our Church since then. Since my very first job interview in Michigan I have said that my passion is to ‘keep young people in our Church and on fire for Jesus’! One of my favourite texts is Psalm 16:8 – ‘I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken’.”

We have chosen the following acronym to give insights into each of our Camp Pugwash Team members on Staff this summer:

Special Interests:

Directors

Jane McClair, Camp Secretary

Special Interests: My special interests are living more naturally, helping others to as well and guiding children, with Gods help, to navigate in this world that, for many, has become confusing  and difficult.

Thankful For: I am thankful every day for the beauty of where God has placed me to live. It often takes my breath away and shows me how beautiful He is and how much He loves and cares for me.

Awesome Summer Memories: An awesome summer memory was at camp of course. It was several powerful staff prayer circles and I remember feeling that the Holy Spirit was with us in a very big way. That was a summer when so many young people gave their lives to Christ and were baptized.

Fun Fact: A fun fact about me is that from childhood through young adulthood, my parents owned a Dairy Queen. This gave me opportunity to learn good work ethics from early employment as a kid, exactly weighing out trays of French fries for 5 cents a tray, to loading buns on the toaster during sales to full employment during high school and college. This taught me honesty, fairness, thoroughness and even to save out a portion of my earnings for God. I also ate lots of ice Cream!

Favourite Bible Verse: I can’t say that I have a single favourite Bible verse but this is one that I love because it reminds me how God wants me to be on a daily basis as a Christian, and right in the middle of it, the key to His closeness with me to achieve those things. “Always be joyful. Never stop praying. Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians‬ ‭5:16-18‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Ron Fall, Maintenance Director/Caretaker

Heather Harrington, Food Service Director

Special Interests: Visiting new places is my favourite thing to do!  When I was 10 days old, I moved with my parents from Ontario to Nairobi, Kenya.  This was the beginning of my life-long passion for travel.  I also really enjoy photography.  I love capturing glimpses of beauty in people and nature.  I’ve had the privilege of photographing six weddings.

Thankful For: Most of all I am thankful that Jesus loves me so much that He died to save me.  I can’t wait to thank Him in person when we get to Heaven!

Awesome Summer Memories: It would be impossible to list all my awesome summer memories, but I believe almost all of them have been made at Camp Pugwash!  I’m looking forward to making many more fantastic memories this summer!

Fun Fact: I have lived in seven countries.

Favourite Bible Verse: Currently, my favourite Bible verse is Isaiah 41:10.  So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Waterfront Staff

Krysta Walsh, Waterfront/Counsellor

Special Interests: My special interest is helping others. I have had the privilege of going on a mission trip in March to Belize. I admit I didn’t quite realize what I was getting into until I got there. But one day we took the morning off to tour the Mayan ruins, and when we came back to do VBS for the kids, we were met with such excitement and happiness upon our return. One little girl ran up to me and jumped into my arms and I hugged her for a long time. One of the group members heard a kid say that they had been watching and waiting for our bus all morning. It was that moment that I realized how much we meant to them, and all that hard work in the sun was really worth it.

Thankful For: I am really thankful for summer camp. Camp was a blessing to me growing up, and I am grateful for the chance to make it a blessing to others too.
